The Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) remains one of the most widely ordered hematology tests, serving as a key indicator of inflammation. Its accuracy, however, depends entirely on a single, critical pre-analytical factor: the precise 4:1 blood-to-anticoagulant ratio.
Our 1:4 Sodium Citrate Vacuum Tubes are engineered specifically for this purpose. Each tube contains a pre-measured volume of 3.8% (0.129M) tri-sodium citrate solution. The factory-calibrated vacuum is meticulously set to draw exactly four parts blood for every one part citrate. This 4:1 ratio ensures that the red blood cells sediment naturally, unaffected by dilutional errors or anticoagulant imbalance—giving you results you can trust.
